The Greater Mumbai Unit in with the kind co-operation of Dr K. S. Vardachari, M. D., Chief Medical Officer, Sri Shanmukhananda Jasubhai R.K. Shah Medical Centre, arranged:
Dr Doshi demonstrated the workings of a dialysis mechine and gave valuable advice on how to deal with such an event in our families. He enlightened the audience about the kidney, the type of dialysis, when is dialysis necessary, what measures to take among other points. The lecture was well attended by the members and their guests.
The Greater Mumbai Unit will soon work out the modalities of providing some kind of support to the Medical Center.
The Q&A session too was very interesting with the audience grilling Dr Doshi with various questions ranging from preventive measures, protien effects on kidney to medical tests necessary.
The Q&A session reflected the immense interest in the field, the lack of basic knowledge about dialysis and its frequency (many thought dialysis is a permanent procedure, rather than a one time procedure in majority of the cases) and the fear of having to undergo a dialysis.
About the Sri Shanmukhananda Jasubhai R.K. Shah Medical Centre
In fulfillment of its social obligation Sri Shanmukhananda Fine Arts & Sangeetha Sabha had established two and a half decades ago a Medical Centre, now known as Sri Shanmukhananda Jasubhai R.K.
